Asumani (known as ‘Mzee Male’ at CAS) is married with 6 children. He grew up in the Mukono village on the outskirts of Kampala and attended school there until 1973. When his parents passed away, he started working in the Ministry of Information from 1974 - 1980 as a Library attendant. From 1980 - 1982 he worked as an office assistant at the Yugoslav Embassy. For the next 10 years from 1982 - 1992, he was a driver for the Presidential Office.
In 1995 he decided to follow his love of wildlife and Uganda and became a safari guide after attending courses in Safari Guiding and Birding Safaris, after which he earned both certificates. He has 39 years of experience in driving and 25 of these have been as a Safari Guide.
Male is cool, calm and collected. One of our senior guides for the last 14 years, his knowledge of Uganda, his warmth and ability to deal with all situations - no matter how rough they get - makes him a must-have on a safari. He is a keen professional and exudes confidence while on safari, not to mention he knows just about everyone in Uganda!
