Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge
Rwanda's first ever community owned lodge
Welcoming, luxury accommodation in the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes.
Set on the edge of the Parc National des Volcans in a lush green property of 11 hectares, Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge enjoys dramatic views of the volcanoes.
All guest cottages are set amongst the hills and lush gardens of the Sabyinyo property. Each cottage showcases East Africa-chic style with wood burning fireplaces and is a haven of luxury at the end of an exhilarating day gorilla trekking. The main lodge features welcoming seating areas in the lounge, reception and entertainment rooms while fireplaces create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The lodge is a combination of a world-class accommodation and a financial source driving socio-economic development and conservation initiatives in the area. These initiatives have directly benefited more than 5,800 households and had a real impact on the lives of both local human and gorilla residents around Parc National des Volcans.
All six stone cottages feature Rwandese terracotta tile roofs, sitting areas and outdoor verandahs, fireplaces and en-suite bathrooms. Space heaters supplement the log fire on cold nights. One family cottage is a stone building with an en-suite double room, sitting area, fireplace and a dressing room. The twin room has an ensuite bathroom with shower. The rooms are connected via an expansive deck that invites you to relax and enjoy the views. Two suites offer extra spacious cottages with expansive sitting area, two verandahs, ensuite bathroom with shower and bath and fireplaces.
