The Ugandan government announced a lock down/curfew for the Mubende and Kassanda districts to further limit the spread of Ebola. This measure does not affect tourism operations. Transit (no stopping) only is allowed via the Kampala-Fort Portal highway. No stops can/will be made, however, as alternative routes exist, CAS has been avoiding the areas. There are not tourism activities in these areas, nor are they areas that we frequent with guests. Kasese Airstrip is well outside of this area and is operating as normal. All CAS passengers arriving into Kasese Airstrip will transit without issue to Kibale area lodges. This responsible measure taken by the MOH and government branches was done in an effort to continue to contain the spread of Ebola in those areas. All health and safety SOPs are in place, as per the usual, and we appreciate the continued efforts of WHO Uganda and the MOH.
